Estimate the fuel budget of a trip or road trip, one way or round trip.

Formula

Fuel cost = Distance × L/100 km / 100 × Fuel price

Assumptions

Consumption and price held constant over the period: seasonal, driving-style and price variations are not modelled.

How to read it

On a long trip, allow 5–10% more than the estimate: detours, air conditioning, a loaded car and sustained highway speed all raise consumption. Add tolls and parking for the full budget.
