Weight-to-Power Ratio Calculator

How many kilograms each horsepower has to move: kg/hp and kg/kW, the inverse of power-to-weight.

1Your data

Formula

kW/kg ratio = Power (kW) / Vehicle weight (kg) (kg)

Assumptions

How many kilograms each horsepower has to move: kg/hp and kg/kW, the inverse of power-to-weight.

How to read it

The fewer kilograms per horsepower, the harder the car accelerates. Benchmarks: city car 12–15 kg/hp, saloon 8–10, sports car 4–6, supercar < 3. Use real laden weight (people, luggage), not just kerb weight.
