Formula

Per month = (2 × One-way commute distance × L/100 km / 100 × Fuel price + Parking per day + Tolls per day) × Working days per month

Assumptions

Consumption and price held constant over the period: seasonal, driving-style and price variations are not modelled.

How to read it

Compare the monthly commute cost with a transit pass — often partly reimbursed by the employer — or with cycling. Fuel alone is misleading: parking and tolls sometimes make up more than half of the budget.
