Compare Fuel Economy of Two Cars

Two fuel economy figures, your yearly mileage and fuel price: the real saving per year.

1Your data
MPG (US)

Formula

Saving = (L/100 kmA − L/100 kmB) × Annual distance / 100 × Fuel price

Assumptions

Consumption and price held constant over the period: seasonal, driving-style and price variations are not modelled.

How to read it

Use the yearly saving to judge a purchase premium: divide the price difference between the two cars by the annual saving to know how many years it takes to pay back.
