10–80% EV Charging Time Calculator

How long the classic 10→80% fast-charge session takes, from battery size and charging power.

1Your data

Formula

Charging time = Battery capacity (kWh) × (Target charge (%) − Starting charge (%)) / 100 / Charging efficiency (%) / Charger power (kW)

Assumptions

Charging efficiency (≈ 90% on AC, higher on DC) covers charger/battery losses; real power tapers near full and in cold weather, so actual time can be longer.

How to read it

The advertised peak power holds only on part of the curve: the real average between 10 and 80% is often 60–80% of the peak. A cold or very hot battery charges noticeably slower — precondition it before a fast charger if the car allows.
